Launch of Field Mission for Ethiopia Tourism Resource Mapping
Our team has just arrived in Ethiopia to kick off a three-week field mission under the World Bank-supported Ethiopia Tourism Resource Mapping Project, with a special focus on the Sidama Region.
The mission began yesterday in Addis Ababa with a dynamic and engaging first day. Hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, our experts—Lucy McCombes and Daniel Ademe (tourism) and Giulia Gorjux (environmental science)—led a full schedule of meetings and discussions. These included a focus group with tour operators, and meetings with the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority (EWCA) and the Ethiopian Heritage Authority. The team collected valuable insights through this participatory approach, setting a strong foundation for the upcoming fieldwork in Sidama. We look forward to sharing more as the mission unfolds.
