Project description
The assignment, commissioned by the Egyptian Tourism Federation, supported Egypt’s sustainable tourism recovery through national strategies and master plans for the Pyramids and Upper Nile destinations. Services included strategic planning, product development, GIS-based analysis, extensive site visits, and workshops chaired by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.
Scope of Services
- Diagnostic analysis, extensive site visits, industry workshops and a national tourism workshop chaired by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities
- Development of a full national-scale GIS to support planning and analysis
- Preparation of the Strategic Framework for Action for sustainable tourism development at national scale
- Formulation of the National Product Development Strategy, including spatial analysis and identification of anchor products
- Development of tourism master planning concepts for the Pyramids Destination, integrating cultural heritage, urban interface, and airport access
- Development of tourism master planning concepts for the Upper Nile Destination, including spatial structuring, WHS integration, and new tourism products
- Definition of guidelines for site management, sustainable mobility, urban design, and environmental-social safeguards
