Stakeholder meetings on the Visitor Management Plan for Juffureh, Albreda and Kunta Kinteh Island, The Gambia
On 1–2 October 2026, our team participated in two stakeholder meetings on the Visitor Management Plan for Juffureh, Albreda and Kunta Kinteh Island, The Gambia.
Organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture through the Project Implementation Unit of the World Bank-funded Tourism Diversification and Resilience in The Gambia Project, the meetings brought together national institutions, community representatives and the consultancy team.
During the Stakeholder Validation Workshop, held on 1 October in Bijilo, Simon C. Woodward, Key Expert in Visitor Experience and Interpretation, presented and discussed proposals on site governance, visitor experience and community participation.
A follow-up meeting at the PIU office on 2 October addressed the issues raised and reviewed the design proposals. The discussions will inform the finalisation of the Visitor Management Plan and the development of the detailed design.
Thank you to all participants for their contributions!
