Project description

The Integrated Tourism Master Plan for Sughd Region developed a spatial and strategic roadmap for tourism growth. Services included sector analysis, a regional strategic and GIS-based spatial plan, and four investment pre-feasibility studies. Key natural and cultural assets, including the “Proto-urban site of Sarazm” and the part of the “Zarafshan-Karakum Corridor” WHS, were incorporated into a sustainable development framework.

Scope of Services

• Inception phase, including stakeholder consultations and work planning
• Strategic tourism analysis covering sector organisation, demand trends, and marketing
• Assessment of natural and cultural assets, including protected areas and WHS
• Evaluation of infrastructure, access, and regulatory frameworks
• Integrated Tourism Master Plan with a spatial development strategy
• Identification and design of investment projects
• Pre-feasibility studies for four priority investments:
  • Fann Mountain Nature and Wilderness Networks
  • Tajik Sea National Water Sports and Leisure Development
  • Khujand Destination Development Programme
  • Ayni Destination Development Programme
• Development of a regional GIS to support spatial planning
• Environmental and social screening and guidelines formulation
• Governance, implementation framework, and economic impact estimation
