Project description

The World Bank is assisting the Government of Uzbekistan in the overarching development goal of achieving an “integrated and balanced social-economic development of regions, districts and cities” through the Medium-Size Cities Integrated Urban Development Project.
The purpose of the assignment is to run a preparatory work for implementation of integrated approach towards development of new tourism destinations in the pilot tourism regions of Fergana Valley (Andijan, Fergana and Namangan regions), Bukhara, Surkhandarya, and Kashkadarya. The study area includes the “Historic Centre of Bukhara” UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The expected outcomes include a priority investment program and action plan, regional marketing, branding and promotion strategies, a monitoring and evaluation system and an effective capacity building program.
